Michael Richardson's incredible list of things. Please be nice to it though, it's over a 14.4k SLIP link. Mike runs a consulting company called Sandelman Software Works, and is perenially overworked.
I've got a Tandy Color Computer 3 at home...
It's got a real-time multitasking OS that's sort of an 8-bit version of Unix. And yes, it does do useful things, like SLIP into the university. The CPU is a Hitachi HD6309 which is an upgrade to the MC6809, and runs faster with more registers and more instructions.
A technical reference for the 6309 is available, and pointed to by the Computing Dictionary located in the U.K. Search for Hitachi 6309, Motorola 6809, or OS-9. The original article posted by Hirotsugu Kakugawa, (kakugawa@csl.hiroshima-u.ac.jp) to comp.sys.m6809 is also available.
The RTSI OS-9 archive contains a fair amount of publicly released OS-9 software, both 6809 and 68000.
So far I've sold software that has repayed about 1/4 of the money I put into the bloody thing. Oh well. At least I have complete source for the system, hack it to shreds, and make it run faster and more efficiently. Hey, every clock cycle counts on a 2MHz 8-bit.
The system I'm running is called NitrOS-9.
The OS-9 FAQ is available from the Wisc. U. C.S. department.
