Dear stakeholder

Over the past four years, the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) has been at the heart of exciting shifts, developments and innovations taking place in standardization across this country and globally. The organization has implemented a number of initiatives toward providing a more responsive, flexible and aligned standardization system. As a result, SCC is having a significant impact on several fronts.

A renewed organizational structure

In order to better support Canada’s public policy agenda and its domestic and international trade interests, SCC recently implemented a renewed organizational structure. The reorganization is expected to further strengthen SCC’s connections with our most important government and industry stakeholder groups. As well, this will enhance the organization’s position in helping to meet future stakeholder and customer needs.

Standardization solutions for government and industry

This renewed organizational structure will focus on strategies aimed at delivering standardization solutions for federal departments, for the provinces and territories, and will emphasize solutions to fuel industry competitiveness. Through this aligned engagement with government and industry, Canada’s standardization network will continue to be strengthened and support a more targeted international participation strategy.

To ensure SCC stays the course toward becoming an international standardization leader, the organization will now have five organizational branches, each with specific accountabilities:

Accreditation Services: led by Chantal Guay
Standards Solutions: led by Sylvie C. Lafontaine
Strategy: led by Michel Girard
Communications and Corporate Planning: led by Sandra E. Watson
Corporate Services: led by Ernie Briard

Through the restructuring, teams at SCC will become more cross-functional, to provide quicker, more-seamless delivery of services to customers and other stakeholders.

SCC will continue to align its resources to optimize its knowledge and experience to best serve Canadians interests. SCC’s website will be updated with the new organizational and contact information in the coming weeks.

Depuis les quatre dernières années, le Conseil canadien des normes (CCN) est au cœur des innovations, des changements et des développements prometteurs qui s’opèrent dans le monde de la normalisation, ici comme à l’étranger. L’organisme a mis en œuvre plusieurs initiatives afin de mettre en place un système de normalisation mieux adapté, plus flexible et plus harmonieux. Par conséquent, le CCN a un impact considérable sur plusieurs fronts.

Une structure organisationnelle renouvelée

Afin de mieux soutenir les politiques publiques du Canada et servir ses intérêts commerciaux au pays et à l’échelle internationale, le CCN a mis en œuvre récemment une structure organisationnelle renouvelée. La réorganisation devrait permettre au CCN de resserrer davantage ses liens avec les groupes d’intervenants de l’industrie et du gouvernement les plus importants. De plus, le CCN sera ainsi mieux à même d’aider à répondre aux besoins futurs des intervenants et des clients.

Solutions de normalisation pour les secteurs public et privé

La structure organisationnelle renouvelée privilégiera les stratégies qui mettront de l’avant des solutions de normalisation pour les ministères fédéraux, provinciaux et territoriaux, et les solutions qui stimuleront la compétitivité de l’industrie. Le resserrement de la collaboration avec le gouvernement et l’industrie permettra de continuer à consolider le réseau de normalisation du Canada et à appuyer une stratégie plus sélective en matière de participation internationale.

Afin que le CCN maintienne le cap sur l’objectif qu’il s’est donné de devenir un leader de la normalisation internationale, l’organisme sera désormais réparti en cinq directions organisationnelles, chacune ayant des responsabilités précises :

Services d’accréditation : sous la direction de Chantal Guay
Solutions de normalisation : sous la direction de Sylvie C. Lafontaine
Stratégie : sous la direction de Michel Girard
Communications et planification générale : sous la direction de Sandra E. Watson
Services généraux : sous la direction d’Ernie Briard

Cette restructuration renforcera l’interfonctionnalité des équipes du CCN, ce qui améliorera la rapidité et la fluidité des services fournis aux clients et autres intervenants.

Le CCN continuera d’aligner ses ressources de façon à optimiser ses connaissances et son expérience afin de servir au mieux les intérêts de la population canadienne.
