DHCP

Some server on the public network is answering DHCP queries. This is likely the Ascend router, or it may be a machine at MAGMA if the router has been configured to pass certain broadcast packets along. The response from the DHCP query assigns the IP address of the firewall. This causes the firewall to become unreachable.

This may cause problems if a PC, Mac or inappropriately configured Sun is ever connected between the firewall and the router for any purpose (e.g. auditing)

It is suggested that this server be located and turned off.
