American Statement Opposing Further Churchill Falls Development * * * * * We, the undersigned, stand in solidarity with the Innu people of Québec and Labrador (Nitassinan) who oppose further construction on the Churchill River without their consent. We further state that we, as concerned citizens and organizations, will oppose the import and distribution of power from the Lower Churchill, and refuse the purchase of electricity from this and other environmentally and socially irresponsible developments. We, the intended customers for the power generated from the Lower Churchill development, shall oppose all bond issues and purchase contracts needed to finance this destructive project.
