ENS, Vyara (Vadodara), April 25.

Alarmed over the death of seven persons at the Sardar Sarovar
Project rehabilitation site here following a bout of voming and fever,
the Sardar Sarovar Punavasvat Agency (SSPA) has begun health
survey of all the 180 resettlement sites in Vadodara district.

"The death of seven persons in a short span is a serious matter,"
SSP Rehabilitation Officer Vinod Babbar said yesterday. While the
Indian Council of Medical Research, which conducted a survey on
April 21, has ruled out malaria, the task of finding out the cause of
deaths has been assigned to a team of doctors from the Baroda
Medical College.

According to doctors at the site, the seven persons, including three
children, died between April 10 and April 19. Nearly 100 people have
been shifted to this site near Rameshwarpura during the last five
years from Karana in MP.

Narmada Development Minister Jaynarayan Vyas has said that
three aged persons had a history of tuberculosis and others had
died because of heat.
