Bangladesh is experiencing the longest and worst floods in its recent
history. The devastating floods this year have already stayed more than
eight weeks. According to the weather forecast the flooding will continue
to rack the country until the end of this month. With water levels still
rising in the country- more than two thirds of which is submerged- about
800 people were reported dead and hopes of replanting lost crops by
mid-September have disappeared. More than 30 million people are homeless.
Total food deficit may stand at over four million tones. According to the
United Nations Disaster Management Team, “a large number of farmers would
not receive income from present production season, which may result in
serious economic loss and poverty.”
Today Bangladeshis need your support.
