Algonquin to Adirondacks: Making the Connection
The Algonquin to Adirondacks conservation initiative
(A2A) is an
ambitious
bi-national effort to maintain connected wildlife
habitat across the
region of
eastern Ontario and northern New York that lies
between Algonquin Park
and the
Adirondacks Park. Habitat connections are important
for many species of
wildlife
including lynx, moose, and even plants. The A2A link
is of
conservation
significance at the continental scale, and the Ottawa
Valley Chapter of
CPAWS is
playing a major role. In collaboration with a range
of partner
organizations we
are leading a conservation mapping project and
developing material to
support
private land stewardship. Come and learn more from a
team of CPAWS
presenters
including Jean Langlois, Nick Stow, and Richard
Deering.
Plus: John MacKenzie with a talk/slide show
presentation on fishers and
on
fluctuations in various species of interest in eastern
Ontario.
