Ontario Naturalists to Showcase New Book on Curbing Urban Sprawl
http://www.ontarionature.org/news/template.php3?n_code=154

The City of Ottawa is at the final stages of a new Official Plan, and soon will
be developing a Greenspace Master Plan. Now is a good time to look at the
province-wide picture and how the City of Ottawa can lead the way.

What should Queen's Park be doing better to foster smart communities by
protecting natural areas, greenspace and agricultural land?

The Federation of Ontario Naturalists and the Ottawa Field Naturalists' Club
will co-host a Smart Communities Workshop in Ottawa on April 22, 2003. Come hear
about the 32 tools in the smart-growth toolbox - most of them actions that our
provincial government should take to create a smart, nature-friendly future for
all of Ontario. See examples of smart growth in action and connect with others
interested in similar issues.

Participants will receive a free copy of A Smart Future for Ontario: How to
Protect Nature and Curb Sprawl in Your Community - the new publication from the
Federation of Ontario Naturalists. Come learn about effective sprawl-fighting
tools and strategies. Join us early for the open house before the workshop for
displays, refreshments and take-home materials!
