[OPIRG-EVENTS] Job Posting - Film Festival Coordinator

FILM FESTIVAL COORDINATOR
World Inter-Action Mondiale (WIAM), Ottawa-based
global education
centre,
has begun preparations for the organization's 14th
annual One World
Film Festival. The Film Festival is a unique local
event that
promotes
awareness of global issues through the powerful medium
of film
(documentary/experimental/dramatic). This year's
festival will be
held in
October and WIAM is currently seeking an interested
and energetic
individual
to fill the position of Film Festival Coordinator.
The Film Festival Coordinator will be contracted to
work on a
part-time
basis for up to 500 hours, at $17 per hour, from July
up until the
successful completion of the festival in early
November. Suitable
candidates will be those available to work part-time
and flexible
hours.
Coordination tasks, the Film Festival Coordinator will
be responsible
for:
securing logistical details relating to the venue,
technical
personnel,
equipment needs, and film rental; production of
media/publicity
material;
promotion of the event; liaising with local partner
organizations,
festival
resource people and volunteers; managing the festival
accounts. The
Film
Festival Coordinator will work in close contact with
WIAM's Youth
Outreach
Coordinator, summer intern and the volunteer-based
Film Festival
Committee.
WIAM is looking for a highly motivated individual with
the following:
experience of media relations and/or event promotion;
good verbal and
written communication skills; strong organizational
and planning
skills;
knowledge of (and ideally involvement in) the local
social
justice/international development/arts communities;
bilingual
(English/French).
